Square-Enix has confirmed that they are working on Final Fantasy XIII-2 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and is scheduled to come out in the winter of 2012.
The title is still under production at Square-Enix. There hasn’t been a direct spinoff for a Final Fantasy game like this since Final Fantasy X-2 in 2003. Since the winter 2012 release is for North America, I’m guessing Japan will probably get it a few months ahead of us as usual. With this new game, I hope that they fix the problem that FFXIII had of being way too linear.
