Toronto 3DS Launch Event Photos

Yesterday I braved the Canadian cold to check out the 3DS Launch Event in Toronto at Yonge & Dundas Square. It was well worth the wait and being frozen out in the cold for over an hour to get hands on time with some of the launch titles.

I had some hands on time with the AR Cards, Super Street Fighter 4 3D, PilotWings Resort, Steel Diver and Nintendogs + Cats. The AR Cards were definitely a neat idea, even though it can be gimmicky. Pilotwings is a definitely a fun game and the game benefits from the use of the 3D screen although I had to turn the 3D down to about half or two-thirds and it was the only game that messed with my eyes when 3D was maxed out. Street Fighter 4 3D is what a fighting game should be on a handheld. From the five minutes I had with it, it was easy to pick up and a blast to play.

With Steel diver, my impressions of the game so far is that it’s a ton of fun and is definitely something I’d get, although I want to warn you that you don’t want to be playing it in public places. I also had some hands-on time with Face Raiders. Its a fun concept and I’d definitely be playing around with that when I pick up my 3DS shortly.

Virgin Radio was also at the event and gave away five, yes five 3DS’s for free! Unfortunately I didn’t win one of those nifty units there but the 3DS launch event was a blast!

If you haven’t checked the 3DS North American trailer yet, you can check it out here!

I have included a gallery of photos below for your enjoyment from the Toronto 3DS Launch Event. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a 3DS to pick up now!
