GBA can play GB and GBA.
DS can play GBA, not GB.
3DS can play DS, not GBA or GB.

So,

Wii can play GC and Wii
Wii U will be able to play Wii, not GC?

I'm somewhat upset by this, is anyone else? I've already kept my GB-DS just to be able to play all my grandma games, but I was hoping we could still bump up the GameCube games to play on the Wii. I don't want to have 7 systems sitting out on my entertainment center, but I will if I absolutely have to...

So for handhelds the best bet to slim down (assuming you don't use flash carts and play all retail copies) is to have a GBA and 3DS since that will cover the 3DS/DS games and all those GB-GBA games

The Wii can play Gamecube games and I'm assuming you have an original Wii right now and Wii game saves you'll want to keep so I would probably pawn off the Gamecube and keep the Wii with all those Gamecube accessories that I would be needing. If the Wii runs custom firmware to play imported games, that would be more incentive to keep the Wii around, on top of being able to play Gamecube games.

And yea I agree the Wii is starting to follow the GameBoy's footsteps with half-step storage issues (cartridge/disc)

Lets face it the GC controller was one of the best ever crafted, its hard to play games like SSBM and SSBB without them =S. Also hope that they get rid of region locking =S... even the idea of leaving the region locking up to the companies (as they claim to do with the 3DS) doesn't work because most companies will naturally "region lock" their games under the premise that if they DID release it in another region, they could make MORE $$$$ money if they re-released it =S... sighs...
