Return to Ravnica

There’s still a month before its release but with the upcoming Izzet vs. Golgari deck previewing some of its new cards, it’s impossible not to have discussions and speculations of this new block. All we know is Ravnica is back and five of its guilds will be introduced (Azorius, Izzet, Rakdos, Golgari, and Selesnya). The spoiler picture suggests Niv-Mizzet and Jace will be in this set. Rotation!

Finally, upon the release of Return to Ravnica, the Scars of Mirrodin block and Magic 2012 cards will rotate out of Standard. This means the Magic 2012 Core Set Titans will leave as well as the heavy artifact theme from the Scars Block. Older cards can still be used in Extended, Modern, Vintage, Legacy and various casual formats. In the future, I expect the Standard Format to shift into greater use of multicolored decks (as in more use of gold cards) focus and perhaps one of the underrated guilds might become more competitive.
