Two New Wii Bundles Inbound!

There’ll be two new Wii Bundles that will be available later this year. The first bundle is a Black Wii, bundled with New Super Mario Bros. Wii, an exclusive Mario soundtrack CD and Wii Remote Plus and will not backwards compatible with Gamecube games or accessories. This bundle will be arriving October 23 and will be selling for $149.99.

The second bundle is a nice looking Mario & Sonic 2012 Olympic Games bundle with a Blue, yes that’s right a Blue Wii! And like the previous bundle, the new Wii hardware is not compatible with Gamecube games or accessories. As much as I lament the loss of Gamecube support, It’s a move forward to the launch of the highly anticipated Wii U next year. Plus most of us already own the “classic” version anyways or have a Gamecube somewhere in the house! Looks like it’s time for me to hunt down a “classic” Wii or Gamecube before anything happens and my collection of Gamecube games become utterly useless dust collectors on my shelf!

[UPDATE] The Mario & Sonic at the 2012 London Olympic Games Wii Bundle is currently only available in Europe starting November 18, 2011 and both Wiis that come in the two bundles are not compatible with Wi-Fi or Gamecube accesories or games! I’m starting to feel shortchanged by Nintendo on this tweak, especially with the lack of Wi-Fi.

I think I’ll get the black one just for the soundtrack…*sigh*. If only.

    1. I might end up nabbing the black one for my dad this christmas and conveniently rip the soundtrack. Hopefully I have an extra $150 with SM3DL, Mario Kart 7, Skyward Sword and Uncharted 3 all landing within a few weeks of each other.
