Why Macbooks Have No Game

I’ve recently been considering buying a high-end laptop with full gaming capabilities. Shopping around online, I soon realize that there are a ton of makers of “gaming” laptops. Any veteran gamers out there will know that laptops just can’t compare to desktops when it comes to things like gaming (at least in similar prices ranges). However, with prices and performance improving, the offerings are becoming more and more tempting. Continue reading

Rogers Wireless On Technical Trial For LTE Network

Rogers Wireless is one of the biggest carriers in Canada. They have decided to switch over to LTE and is having a trial period with the system in Ottawa, which is Canada’s capital city. I’m hoping that they will roll out LTE in more major cities like Toronto, Vancouver and Montréal in the near future.

The Last Story Localisation Killed by Sales?

As many fans of the RPG genre know, The Last Story is a Nintendo x Mistwalker production and many people had hoped for a localisation of this game for Europe and North America.

Sales for the first week were great for the game, and The Last Story was at #1 on the Japanese charts. But since then, they have dropped to 99,000 sold, down from the 118,953 that was sold during the first week. I’m hoping that the sales will pick up or at least stabilize at around this mark.

If you would like to see this game get localised, please sign the petition here!

Felicia Day on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

Last night, Felicia Day was on Jimmy Fallon’s show to promote Dragon Age Redemption and also her own web series, The Guild. I think this is a great time to be a fan of these web series based on the gaming world

Gaming One Hour Everyday = Success in Life

Jane McGonigal over at the Huffington Post wrote an interesting article on how gaming can help improve quality of life. In her article, she explains that around 97% of boys and 94% of girls under the age of 18 are regular gamers showing how important gaming is to our lives these days. She goes one step further and makes an attempt to argue that gaming is a way to lead a successful life. While I would tend to agree with her views that gaming is “good for you” in that it is a great form of recreation and a fairly decent social activity, I wouldn’t necessarily believe that it makes people more successful. Regardless, this article is an interesting read and a fresh take on the traditional “OMG gaming kills children” views published in mainstream media.

Youtube Tuesday: Scott Pilgrim vs 60 Seconds

Even if you don’t have the attention span to watch the whole two hour Scott Pilgrim movie, I’d still recommend watching it. It’s still a neat way to recap the movie in a minute though!

Felicia Day’s Mystery Project Revealed!

If you have been paying attention to major web series or to the twitter feeds of Felicia Day or The Guild, you may know that she has revealed what the mystery project Felicia Day has been tweeting about for the past little while. It is definitely exciting for those who are into RPGs and also for those who know about her past works as the creator and writer for The Guild and also plays Codex/Cid, her work in Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog and in RED.

Marvel vs Capcom 3

One of the most anticipated 2D fighting games, Marvel vs Capcom 3, hits store shelves today! It’s looking like its going to be another solid fighting game to add to the likes of Super Street Fighter 4 and Tekken 6. The addition of new characters into the game like Jill Valentine and Amaterasu make this game all the more attractive. It’s guaranteed a spot in my games library for a long while cause of the replay value that I can get out of it playing it with friends. I’m hoping that there will be more characters available in the future via DLC even though the current roster is pretty awesome as it is right now. I’ll be starting off playing this game with Amaterasu, Ryu and Jill Valentine once I get my hands on this game!
