Sony Xperia Play aka PSP Phone gets a release window

Sony’s Xperia Play, also known as the Playstation Phone is getting a launch window of March and will be available on Verizon before any other carriers. It has yet to have a price pinned on this device but so far it looks like a decent advice. Continue reading

RIP Guitar Hero

Activision has cancelled the popular Guitar Hero franchise and has dissolved its dev team. This is due to the declining sales in the music game genre. I think it is a sad day for anyone that enjoys Guitar Hero or Rock Band since it leaves Rock Band as the sole game that has the whole band experience. I’m hoping that they will revive this franchise in a few years and not churn out a new game every year due to market saturation.

PSP2 rumoured unveiling in 4 days

There is supposed to be an unveiling for the PSP2 in 4 days on January 27.  The PSP2 is supposed to have an OLED touchscreen and also have 3G data capabilities provided by NTT DoCoMo when it is released later this year. This will allow for online multiplayer and also video and game downloads while on the go, for Japan at least. Although I’d like to see one of the local networks like Verizon or Sprint in the States or in Canada, Rogers or Bell to provide 3G data for this device, I doubt that it will get that kind of treatment here like it’s supposed to get in Japan.

I’m definitely interested in seeing how this device will make itself unique from what we’ve seen from the Sony Ericsson branded Z1 Zeus Android phone and of course what it brings to the table to counter the 3DS and iOS devices. Hopefully there will be a pricetag that will be pegged to this device as well, although I’m expecting Sony to tack on a price of above $300USD.

Sony PSP2 to be revealed January 27

There’s going to be an announcement for the PSP2 in about two weeks on January 27 and it’s probably for its expected release date and the specs of this device. I’m hoping that they ditch the UMD drive and switch from the uber expensive MS-Pro memory cards to SDHC/XC or Micro SDHC/XC. Guess we’ll have to wait until the end of the month to find out what Sony has in store for the next console

PSP Go and PS3 hacked to play game ISOs

This has not been a good few days at Sony. The PS3 and PSP Go have been both cracked and now able to play pirated games. So much for the PS3 for not being hackable. Continue reading

Angry Birds makes its way to PS3/PSP first

Angry birds will be heading to Wii, DS and Xbox 360 later this year, but it hits PSN later this week, says Sony. The original 63 levels will be available and add-on levels like the season themed ones available on iOS and Android will probably be available in the future. There hasn’t been a price released for it yet, but until then, we’ll be flinging those birds on our phones.
